Victoria well represented in Australian teams

Victoria was well represented in the Australian Underwater Hockey team squads selected at the recent National Championships held in Hobart, Tasmania.

The players and their teammates will travel to Eger in Hungary in August to compete in the 2013 CMAS Underwater Hockey World Championships.

Jackie Connell will be the newest inductee into a large contingent of Wonthaggi club players to have represented Australia. She was selected in the U19 Women’s team that will be coached by fellow Wonthaggi resident Nina Barry-Macaulay.

Jayden Skinner from the Monash University club joins Ben Stepkovitch as Victorian representatives to be selected for the U19 Men’s team.

Callum Wishart, who represented Australia in the U19 division in Holland in 2011, is Europe bound again, stepping up into U23 Men’s team.

The selection of Belinda Watts, Kirsteen Reid, Amy Barry-Macaulay and Camile White ensured that Victoria was exceptionally well represented in the Elite Women’s division. Belinda was also named as Captain.

Craig Thomas and Rees Quilford were selected in the Elite Men’s team training squad which will be finalised at an upcoming training camp.

Steph Goodrick and Lucero Perdemo were also selected in the Master’s Women’s training squad.
