A large group of Victorian based-players have secured representative honours across the junior and adult divisions in 2018. Australian team selections for most divisions were recently held at the Australian Underwater Hockey Championships in Perth.
Extended squads were selected for the Australian junior teams which head to Rotorua, New Zealand in October to participate in the 2018 Underwater Hockey Trans-Tasman against New Zealand.
Congratulations to Caterina Alleway, Kirrilly Hopkins,Kasey Hoskins, Tiana Krilcic, and Lisa Mildenhall who were selected in the Women’s squad (encompassing both U23 and U19 divisions). Clay Duke, Jack Hopkins, and Tom Robinson were named in the U23 Men’s squad while Victorian’s Dylan Furneaux, Will Hopkins, Brad Peters, and Ben Robinson were included in the U19 Men’s squad.
The adult teams will participate in the CMAS World Championships in Quebec, Canada in July. Belinda Watts was named captain of the Australian Elite Women’s team. She is joined by Phoebe Stewart and Katelyn Sarah, both of whom recently relocated to the state. Amy Barry-Macaulay and Nina Barry-Macaulay were named as reserves.
Kristeen Reid was named play coach of the Women’s Master team and is joined by Meegan Kepert and Amy Barry-Macaulay in an extended squad.
Rees Quilford, Steven Taylor, Juan Manuel Castaño Cardenas and Hamish Ride were included in an extended Men’s Masters squad.
