VICTORIAN JUNIORS OFF TO WELLINGTON!

Four Victorian junior players have been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming youth Trans-Tasman competition in Wellington, New Zealand.

Callum Wishart, Kamila Reyes-Perdomo, Jayden Skinner and Kaiah Jones will cross the Tasman to take on the Kiwis in a 8-day underwater hockey battle, commencing on the 5th of July.

U23 Boys: Callum Wishart
U23 Girls: Kamila Reyes-Perdomo
U19 Boys: Jayden Skinner
U19 Girls: Kaiah Jones

In addition, Victorian stalwart Nina Barry-Macaulay will coach the U23 girls.
This is the first time Australia has fielded an U23 girls team at an international event.  This is a fantastic step forward for the development of the sport in Australia and we congratulate Nina for taking on this challenging and rewarding position.

Callum, Kamila and Jayden have all represented Australia before, having competed in the 2013 World Championships in Eger, Hungary.  However, Kaiah is making her international underwater hockey debut, made even more special by being named captain of the U19 girls team.
This is a fantastic honour and a credit to Kaiah and her approach to underwater hockey.

All Aussie teams go into this competition as underdogs, with the Kiwis winning all four age-group divisions at the 2013 World Champs.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on the world’s best Age-Group players and we know our juniors will rise to the challenge and do us proud.

The VUHC wishes all players the best of luck in Wellington!
